User interface technical usability requirements for mobile learning applications

Abstract
In this current era, many undergraduate students own a smart mobile phone, which the Schools use to serve the students with instructional material. In mobile learning, the user interface plays the critical role of acting as the face of the lecture in a physical class; applications with unfriendly user interface may contribute to poor student performance and low application adoption rate. This study was conducted at Mount Kenya University with an aim of evaluating the usability requirements for e-learning applications based on the Teacher Professional Development mobile application of the university. A descriptive survey design with random sampling method was used. The researcher used the extended People at the Center of Mobile Application Development the model. Karl Pearson correlation tests resulted to a positive relationship between the user interface and technical usability specifications. The researcher guided then developed a design prototype to test the guideline. Future study can be done on the proposed design prototype simulation model.
